Toe pain

ILIOTIBIAL BAND SYNDROME.

ITB syndrome causes aching or burning pain on the outside of the knee and may spread up the thigh toward the hip.

RUNNER’S KNEE is usually felt at the front of the knee, around or behind the kneecap.

MENISCUS TEAR, on the other hand, typically causes pain at the joint line or the back of the knee, especially when squatting.

Heel pain

Shin Splints.

Shin splints, or medial tibial stress syndrome (MTSS), cause pain along the inner edge of the shinbone (tibia).

Common in athletes or “weekend warriors” who suddenly increase their activity or intensity or duration of activities like running or jumping.

Symptoms include dull pain, swelling, and tenderness along the shin. Come and see us for professional advice and treatment which could be simple rest and ice, or orthotics.

Heel pain

Achilles Tendonitis.

The Achilles tendon is the large one at the back of the lower leg that connects the calf muscles to the heel bone.

When it gets inflamed due to overuse or repetitive activity it causes pain, stiffness and a feeling of weakness in the affected leg. Swelling can be present around the heel or lower calf.

This condition can be due to tight calf muscles, poor footwear, or aging. See your podiatrist for professional advice on proper footwear and/or orthotics, stretching and strengthening exercises.
